Just so you know I tryed everything with the DIV toplevels and exhausted every possible scenario and then I just updated the DOCUMENT type to my original setting and everything with the layout fell back into place. I hope this doesn't mess up the tabs DOC type but at least I found the problem, only after my eyes glazed over though.
