was able to fix the horizontal problem by making the parent container's positioning static instead of relative. Still have a problem with the vertical gap though

Does anybody have any insight into this vertical gap issue? In safari, when I mouse over the menu, the popup appears about 5px below where it should. However, if I click on the top menu, it cinches up against it and looks perfect. Is there a different style that is being applied when I click on the parent menu item?
